Did you know also that there are all kinds of local, regional and state resources that provide information, education and support for communities who want to enhance their local market success?

Here are some of the organizations that provide help and guidance to all member NYS farmers markets:

Farmers Market Federation of New York

Their mission statement says:

“The mission of the Farmers Market Federation of NY is to support and promote the viability of farmers markets through innovative services, programs and partnerships that maximize the benefits of markets to sellers, buyers and communities.”

The Farmer’s Market Federation works with over 700 farmers, providing information, workshops, webinars and seminars, membership information, and marketing support for farmers looking to build a business. Visit their Facebook page.

 

New York State Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) 

NYS Farmers Nutrition ProgramPurpose:

“The purpose of the program is to promote improved nutrition through increased consumption of locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables. It is also intended to expand sales at farmers’ markets and farm stands.”

To ensure that all the delicious and healthy foods offered in the NYS farmers markets are made available to Iof our citizens, the New York State Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) offers two programs:

  • Women, Infants and Children Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (WIC FMNP)
  • Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP)

Those who are eligible for these programs are provided checks to redeem for fresh, local fruits and vegetables at participating farmers’ markets and farm stands.
